About This Role
The Global Head of Legal & Compliance will lead the legal, compliance and regulatory functions of The Ascent Group, overseeing corporate, compliance and legal matters across our global operations.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, you will play a key role in shaping the Group’s legal and compliance strategy, strengthening governance frameworks and managing regulatory risk across multiple jurisdictions. You will also serve as a trusted advisor to senior management and provide leadership to regional legal and compliance teams.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Legal Strategy & Corporate Matters
- Lead the legal, compliance, and regulatory functions of The Ascent Group
- Lead the full spectrum of the Group’s corporate solutions business
- Negotiate, draft, and review contracts and commercial agreements
- Develop legal strategy, in-house legal tools, and policies, and manage external counsel
- Serve as primary counsel to the CEO and Board of Directors on high-value commercial contracts, major corporate transactions, and enterprise risk
Global Compliance & Governance
- Design and update global compliance programmes, internal controls, and corporate governance policies across multinational operations
- Formulate and maintain a consistent Group-wide legal and compliance framework in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards of good practice
- Review and update internal governance and compliance policies, procedures, and manuals, establishing clear ownership of responsibilities and following up on remediation
- Review and enhance compliance policies and procedures to strengthen the compliance culture across The Ascent Group
- Identify, assess, and mitigate global regulatory risks, including managing investigations and coordinating local counsel across international jurisdictions
Regulatory & Client Advisory
- Act as a key contact for regulators and clients on compliance and conduct matters
- Lead on-site client visits and participate in industry consultations
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior management on legal, compliance, control, and conduct matters
- Advise clients on AML, CRS, licensing, and other compliance matters applicable to the investment management industry
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide strong leadership to legal and compliance teams and ensure the effectiveness of compliance programmes across the Group’s business lines
- Build, coach, and lead regional legal and compliance teams to maintain consistent ethical standards across the Group
What You’ll Bring
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in Law, Business, or a related discipline
- Minimum 18 years of relevant legal and compliance experience in a sizeable organisation in a similar role, preferably within the financial or corporate services industry
- Proven track record in handling multi-jurisdictional legal, compliance, and corporate solutions matters
- Knowledge and experience of fund administration, corporate services, and capital markets would be an advantage.
- Strong management skills, analytical thinking, initiative, and organisational ability
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Valid passport and willingness to travel according to business requirements
- A motivated and self-driven approach, with strong attention to detail and a collaborative, team-focused mindset
